What is the real goal of Leadership?
Leadership should be more about those we lead than the leader. Hopefully the leader fades into the background and those we lead succeed!
An excellent principle for all leaders is "not to use people to build your work but to use your work to build great people."
It is not the goal of a genuine leader to achieve brilliant success and wealth, but to cultivate and empower individuals to reach their fullest potential.
Success, true success, does not measure itself in financial performance, corporate milestones, or outperforming others. True success is not beating someone else. Success is not winning at any cost. It's not about taking advantage of your competition's vulnerability by forcefully inserting a hose down their throat if they're struggling in a lake. It is about developing people.
It is not about the leader's survival but about inspiring the employees and equipping them to thrive professionally and personally.
It is not just about profits, but so much more. It is building people. Helping your people be all they can be. Help your employees grow in skills, knowledge, and confidence. Care about people.
"Your employees are your company's greatest asset. They are not expenses to be minimized, but investments to be maximized." - Steve Maraboli
This ought to be the pastor's and the professional's role—people over profit. We desire impact over income and significance over success.
If you invest in your people, it is because you recognize they are the lifeblood of your organization.
Using people as tools to achieve your business objectives or personal gain is a lose-lose proposition.
Believing business people are especially called to care. True leaders serve others. Leaders who do not believers may focus on financial success, personal advancement, and career progression, while those who believe understand that they serve God through serving others.
True leaders are about more than building empires, making themselves great, and getting famous. Genuine leaders with humility and integrity help others grow and become all they can be.
