What a Wonderful God
God loves His people and makes it very clear in the blessings He wants spoken over people
Have you ever noticed all the blessings in the Bible? In His wisdom, God chose the priests to be the conduits of His blessings to the people of Israel. Imagine God wanting the spiritual leaders to say:
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6
The blessing starts in God's heart. It is not Moses' or Aaron's idea. God gives them even what He wants the blessing to say.
In the biblical context, 'bless' means to endow with power for success, prosperity, fertility, and happiness. It's not just a wish or a polite gesture but a profound act of empowerment and favor from God.
The wildest lesson here may be that the blessing was God’s idea. They were not told to beg God to bless them or to tell the people to beg God for blessing. They were told to bless God's people. Blessing God's people may contradict how many spiritual leaders view their job today!
God's tone here is not one of anger but of joy. He instructs Aaron to go and tell His people that He blesses them and desires their success, prosperity, fertility, and happiness. This blessing is a message of joy and hope, filling our hearts with optimism and reassurance.
Knowing God is precisely this: knowing His blessing, His goodness
What else could you expect when you talk about God forgiving your sins, being right with God, and understanding the purpose of life?
God's desire for His people to be blessed is not a one-time event but a continuous reality. God wanted His blessings to be regularly given to His people by His spiritual leaders.
God's blessings are available to all of His children.
God's blessing reminds us of His unconditional love and care.
This blessing was based on God's goodness, grace, mercy, and love, not the people being so good. This reminder of the source of our blessings should cause great humility and gratitude, acknowledging that all we have is a gift from God.
