Transformative Leadership, from Damaged to Dangerous
King David was able to take group of men drawn from the fringes of society—discontented, in distress, and drowning in debt and turn them into a formidable force for God.
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. 1 Samuel 22:2.
David changed his life and the lives of his mighty men and everyone in his kingdom. He took men who were just looking for safety, purpose, and a chance at life to places they never imagined.
This is something a Christian business leader can also do in their own life, their family, and with those they influence. Making a difference begins with having a clear vision. Before you can succeed, you need to build a firm foundation. Your future depends on the groundwork you’ve laid. How are you growing personally? Do you know who you are in Christ?
Every day of your life until now has been like practice. Your hidden life and your deeper walk with God will get you ready for success in the most important parts of your life. Being successful in business or money doesn’t matter much if you fail in your marriage and relationship with your children.
Remember, people are more important than money. My youngest son always says, “People before things.” That should be a truth in your life too.
Your vision is only as good as the help you get from God. Yes, you could make a life without God. You could give up spiritual things for physical success, but you’ll lose more than just a relationship with God. You might lose what’s most important in your life.
Put down roots into God and His truth then He will prepare you to bear fruit. As a believer you know it is not about what you can do but what He will do.
So, take the time to tell God that He comes first. Say that He rules over every part of your life. You won’t be one person in business and someone else at home.
Like God did with David, He can take you from a simple place to an important one if you seek Him first and let Him add everything else to you. Do small things today. Learn to worship, play music, talk to God. Learn to trust God and don’t let fear take over your heart and soul. Stand up to challenges so you can be ready for even bigger ones.
Learn to use the tools God gave you where you are now. Grow yourself. Be the best version of yourself before you try to build a business career. Who you are matters more than what you do. Practice with the tools you have. Work on every minor challenge and fix every mistake as you practice your faith in hidden and small places. When God thinks you’re ready, He will take you forward.
