Have you ever taken a moment to meditate on the depth of God’s love for us? Consider how He loves us, the origins of that love, and the reasons behind it. This topic is profoundly deep and often beyond our complete understanding, but let’s explore it together for a moment.
Love is not just a characteristic of God; it is His eternal nature. It is not something He does, but who He is. This infinite love is the foundation of His relationship with us. God is love. I John 4:8. Love is God’s inherent attribute. That is who He is and how He is, so God has always loved us. It is His nature.
Even the creation was the outworking of God’s love for us. He created people to have fellowship with him. He loved us even before he created us. God doesn’t love us because of something we do, but based on His choice to love us, His character, and nothing to do with our worthiness.
God loved His people with eternal love before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4-5. No one has ever loved God first because He first loved us. I John 4:19.
God loved us still in our sin.
God loved us while we were weak, ungodly, and still sinners. Romans 5:6-8. That means He loved us unconditionally despite our flaws and sins. He loved us so much that He sacrificed Himself to take our sins on Himself on the cross.
He loved us when we hated Him. He loved us as His enemies to make us His friends.
Even though God is holy, He bridges the gap to come to us in our sin, saves us, rescues us, and gives us new life and a reason to live. He died to make all that happen.
We may love those we deem worthy, but that is not how God loves. We can’t understand God’s love because we compare it to how we selfishly love.
He didn’t just love us in our sins and when we were unworthy, but continues to do so, justifying us through His blood shed on the cross. His love is not a one-time event, but a continuous, unwavering commitment. Romans 5:9.
God’s love is eternal, never-ending, and unwavering. It never stops, no matter what. He constantly loves us, providing us with a sense of security and the knowledge that we are cherished. God’s love is an eternal, everlasting, never-stopping love. Jeremiah 31:3 There is nothing that can separate us from His love. Romans 8:38-39. His mercy lasts forever Psalm 136:23. His compassions are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23
His love assures us in all circumstances. It provides comfort and security in life’s ups and downs, since we know God’s love for us never wavers.
His forgiveness is not just for the past, but for now and forever. I want to serve a God that is so good and kind.
We matter to God. He loves us. We have value and purpose because He loves us.
God is rich in love.
God is not only love but is rich in mercy because of His great love. Ephesians 2:4. He found us dead in our sins and made us alive. His great love extends so much mercy and compassion to us when we do not deserve it.
His love is beyond comprehension. Ephesians 3:18-19. The Father’s love motivated Him to give His only Son to carry and pay for our sin debt.
God loves everything from us, to all of His creation. God is love.
God proves His love.
God’s love is not just a concept, it is a reality that He proves to us every day. He proved His love by giving His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. This ultimate sacrifice is the greatest proof of His love for us.
God joys over us in love. Zephaniah 3:17.
God loved us so much that He called us the very sons of God. I John 3:1.
We know God loves us because He laid down His life for us. I John 3:16.
Love marks us as His
God is love and He loves through us. The proof that we are His is that we love. I John 4:7. We dwell in the love God has for us, and God dwells in us. I John 4:16.
Because of His love in and to us, we also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters in Christ I John 3:16.
If we do not love, then we do not know God. I John 4:8 We love others because God loved us. I John 4:11.
I used to think if I was stranded on a desert island I would want the Psalms or Romans. Of late I can’t get out of 1 John!
