He is Waiting and Watching For You
Jesus lovingly and patiently calls sinners to come home, find rest, and receive forgiveness today. He waits with open arms—don’t delay, respond to His tender call.
God is Love. Love is long-suffering. God is long-suffering.
I want you to consider what it means to say that God is love. That is who He is, not just what He does. So take this one thought about love and meditate on it. God is love, so God suffers long or is super patient.
Give up your thoughts that God is anything less than perfect love, which means sacrificial, unconditional love for all.
Charity-Agape-Love
Charity is love from the Greek word “agape.” It is an unconditional, selfless, and sacrificial love that does not depend on the other person’s worthiness or response. Agape is not natural human love; it comes from God’s character.
Our love for God and others is only because the God who is love loved us first. I John 4:19
God’s love, agape, seeks the good of others, even if it costs the one who loves. It is not for gain but because it is right.
Agape or charity love is an act of the will, not an emotional feeling that changes at a whim. Agape love chooses to love even when it is undeserved. This love does not fade or fail but remains faithful forever.
Agape is the divine, sacrificial, action-oriented love that flows from God’s heart.
Suffers long
Suffering long comes from a compound Greek word meaning to take a long time to get angry, to endure patiently, or to bear with offenses without retaliation. Translators often render this word as “patient,” “long-suffering,” or “slow to anger.”
The word means patiently enduring wrong without seeking revenge or complaining. It’s about staying calm even when provoked or mistreated, about enduring with a good attitude. Patience like this isn’t weakness; it’s firm control over anger and frustration. It’s a fruit of the Spirit, showing God’s nature in us.
God is Love is Long-suffering
God tells us that His very name is long-suffering. Exodus 34:6. The Lord is long-suffering, unwilling that any should perish. II Peter 3:9
God does not give up quickly but is like Jesus represented the Father in the story of the prodigal son. Luke 15:11-32. God waits, watches, and welcomes.
God bears with or puts up with our failures, is slow to anger, and quick to forgive. His patience is not weakness but purposeful mercy.
It is the goodness and kindness of God that leads to repentance Romans 2:4
From the cross, over and over, Jesus said Father, forgive them.
God is waiting, not because He tolerates sin, but because He loves sinners.
God loves us like the parents of a wayward child who continues to love, pray, and hope despite pain.
This love does not rush to judge but seeks restoration.
“Love suffers long“ shows a God who delays wrath for mercy’s sake, bears pain to bring healing, and waits with hope. His love is not reactionary but purposeful, desiring redemption over punishment.
Love Suffers Long
God is love, not just in deed,
But in His very breath, His seed.
Not just what He gives or shows,
But who He is—the heart that knows.
He waits, and waits, and bears the weight,
Of all our pride, our fear, our hate.
Not quick to strike, not swift to leave,
But slow to anger, quick to grieve.
Love suffers long—it does not break,
Though hearts may turn, though worlds may shake.
This love does not demand its due,
But stands, and stays, and sees us through.
It doesn’t ask if we are worth,
The price it pays, the pain, the birth.
Agape—pure, it gives, it stays,
Through darkest nights and longest days.
God waits like fathers on the hill,
Watching sons who wander still.
He bears with us, our faults, our lies,
His mercy wide as endless skies.
This love is fierce, yet soft with grace,
It does not flinch, it holds its place.
It’s not a feeling here then gone,
But will—a rock to lean upon.
It’s not weak hands that let us fall,
But strong ones lifting through it all.
Love suffers long, not out of need,
But out of choice—a holy creed.
He could have judged, but chose to save,
To bear our sins, to love the grave.
To bleed for those who turned away,
And call them still, day after day.
This is our God, who waits, who longs,
Who bears with us when we are wrong.
Whose patience is not letting sin,
But opening doors to come back in.
So lay aside the fear, the shame,
And see His love, a steady flame.
Not earned, not bought, but freely given,
The love that waits, and points to heaven.
Charity suffers, yet it sings—
For in its pain, salvation rings.
A love that lasts, that won’t let go,
That suffers long—to make us whole.
