Blessed to Be Sons and Daughters: God's Invitation to Divine Kinship
Subtitle: Embracing Our Spiritual Inheritance Through Christ's Sacrifice
God is a God of blessing. He blessed the people of Israel and taught His spiritual leaders to pray His blessing over His people.
In the New Testament, we see God continues to bless His people. He gave us the privilege of being called His sons and daughters.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. I John 3:1
Jesus sacrificed Himself so that He could bless us. He made the way for us to be saved and become God’s sons. It was His will to save or rescue us.
You must be made one of His.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12
Jesus extends His hand to you, inviting you to be blessed. He understands that religion may have burdened you, but His grace is here to set you free. While religion dictates, grace declares it finished, once and for all.
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Jesus loved to bless people. He blessed the little children. Jesus blessed two disciples on the road to Emmaus. He blessed in the Sermon on the Mount.
Israel was a blessed and kept people.
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee Numbers 6:24
Consider how God had blessed the nation of Israel. He called them and made them His people when they weren’t and didn’t deserve such a blessing. He rescued them from slavery. God gave them His Holy Word. He gave them the promised land. He dwelt with them in His Tabernacle.
Blessing them meant prospering them. God wanted His people to prosper and enjoy success, so blessing them meant giving them good gifts.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:11
God bless you today. Know that He does, He has, and He will continue to do so. We are the blessed of God.
