Do you know why Jesus came? As you celebrate Christmas, realize that Jesus had significant reasons and great work for coming to this earth. We celebrate His coming and can do much better when we recognize why He came.
Jesus came to complete us and give us an abundant life. We live in a sin-cursed sin, damaged world. We suffer at the hands of a wicked enemy of God.
While Satan, the Devil, the Adversary, came to steal, kill, and destroy us, Jesus came with a mission of life and abundance, offering us a stark contrast to the enemy’s intentions.
‌The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10.
From the beginning and in the Garden of Eden, the Devil has been lying and deceiving. Satan stole man’s dignity. He destroyed the perfect environment God had created for us. He polluted us, and then God removed us from the garden.
Satan tempted man to sin, Adam and Eve. They fell for the lie. Sin brought death and misery.
Jesus didn’t just come to give us life, but life in abundance. His plan for us is more than we could ever hope for or dream of, a promise that brings reassurance and comfort to our hearts.
‌But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Corinthians 2:9.
Jesus didn’t just come as a baby in a manger. He came on a mission, sent from God. God offers us a life far beyond our imagination. He came to rescue us, to redeem and restore us.
Christ’s coming is a message of hope, love, peace, and joy that continues to resonate in our lives.
