I started the Carnivore Diet on October 19, 2023. Today, it has been 372 days, or one year and six days. The Carnivore Diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carbohydrate diet that primarily comprises animal products. I eat only meat, cheese, and eggs; when I want to splurge, I will eat onions, lettuce, etc. I thought I would share briefly a few things about the diet.
While the Carnivore Diet may seem extreme to some, it has been a source of empowerment for me. I’ve shed about 60 pounds and maintained my weight, all while eating what I want and as much as I want. This sense of control over my diet and body is truly liberating.
I love bread and sugar. That would be what I most miss. I have loved the breads offered all over the world. I can eat a ton of it and have. I love butterfingers, candy bars, ice cream, cinnamon rolls, and, well, you name it. But I have learned that sugar feeds cancer. I have cancer, stage 4. I truly believe that not eating all the processed foods, and the sugar, has contributed to keeping my cancer at bay for the moment.
I can now say that I eat to live for the first time in my life. I always loved to eat and lived to eat. On purpose, the food industry has made us food addicts by adding sugar to all of our food. Processed foods demand to be consumed, and we accept and believe the urges.
The Carnivore Diet has been a journey of self-discovery and resilience for me. It’s the first diet that didn’t feel like punishment, although it was a challenge at first. The first month was a real test, giving up sugar, bread, sweets, and candies after 69 years of indulgence. But I persevered, and now, I’m used to the diet with no actual issues.
I intend to keep up this diet until death do us part. It has been an answer for me. I could give you a list of health benefits it has brought me, such as improved energy levels, better digestion, and reduced inflammation, but I am no medical professional, so I am just sharing a personal story of my diet.
